The painting “Wave” by artist Ekaterina Skiba was stolen from the building of the Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val. This is reported by the Agency “Moscow” with reference to a source in law enforcement.

According to him, Skiba herself reported the loss of a painting painted in 2021 to the police on September 18. The artist asked law enforcement officers to find the intruders.

“The police found out that from September 10 to September 18, the Tretyakov Gallery (New Tretyakov Gallery, Krymsky Val Street, 10) at the exhibition” Russian Arts Award 2022 “exhibited four oil paintings in mixed media, signed by the author. A On September 18, Skiba visited the exhibition and did not find a painting belonging to her,” the source said.

Law enforcement officers organized an inspection, as a result of which, on September 19, they opened a criminal case on theft (Part 1 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The police are currently investigating.

Earlier, the court appointed Alexander Vasilyev, a security guard at the Yeltsin Center in Yekaterinburg, who damaged Anna Leporskaya’s painting “Three Figures” from the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery, compulsory work for 180 hours and forced observation by a psychiatrist.

The security guard’s lawyer, Aleksey Bushmakov, said that the defense plans to file an appeal against the court’s decision. He called the sentence “quite harsh.”
