The AvtoVAZ company has begun testing a new crossover on the territory of its Scientific and Technical Center in Tolyatti. Judging by the photographs taken by photo spies, we are not talking about the new Lada SUV, which will be built on the basis of Vesta and presented in 2025, but about a Chinese SUV from Chery.

The photographs published by the insider publication Avtograd News show the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro crossover leaving the gates of the Lada engineering center. The caption for the pictures reads as follows:

“It doesn’t work with FAW, they’ll try with Chery.”

Let us remind you that earlier the AvtoVAZ company was going to start production of FAW crossovers, which will receive Lada nameplates and will be put on the assembly line of the ex-Nissan plant in St. Petersburg. They even managed to present the first such model.

In mid-June this year, a SUV called Lada X-Cross 5 was shown (pictured above). But if rumors are to be believed, the partnership with this Chinese automaker did not work out.

As a result, out of 10 thousand cars that were going to be released in 2023, to date only about 100 copies have rolled off the assembly line.
