Another new Toyota Camry has been presented, it has a different interior

The next-generation four-door, destined for China, has debuted. There the model retained the “traditional” version, while in the States it will be available exclusively as a hybrid.

Americans were the first to see the new Toyota Camry: the premiere of “their” sedan took place at the end of last week at the Los Angeles Auto Show. And then the Chinese version was revealed – already at an exhibition in Guangzhou. And this four-door had its own characteristics. “Live” photos of the “celestial” model were published by the local publication Autohome.

In China, the sedan will be available in three modifications – LE, SE and XSE; they differ in decor. For example, the “solid” LE version has a front bumper and an integrated radiator grille painted in body color, while the other two options have a more sporty look – their grille is made in black. If we compare it with the American four-door, then Chinese cars have their own bumper and grille: there are no horizontal stripes, only a “mesh”.

The interior of the model for China also turned out to be different. Thus, the “celestial” Toyota Camry has an original front panel – with a touchscreen of the multimedia system rising above it and other airflow deflectors. Under the central tablet there is a touch strip, which controls the “climate” and other functions (in the States, the Camry has quite a traditional climate control unit). In China, the model is equipped with a standard sunroof, a panoramic sunroof, or two separate glass sections.

If in the USA the new Camry is presented exclusively as a HEV hybrid (that is, without the possibility of recharging from an electrical outlet), then in China the four-door can still be purchased only with an internal combustion engine. True, there is only one “traditional” version left – with a 2.0 naturally aspirated gasoline engine, its output has not yet been announced (on the previous generation model, an engine of a similar volume produces 177 hp; the previous Camry was also offered with a 207-horsepower 2.5 engine).

Of course, there will be HEV hybrids in China, there will be two such options: with installations including aspirated 2.0 or 2.5 (all characteristics will be revealed later). But all-wheel drive will still remain the prerogative of the American sedan.

As before, sedans for China will be produced locally, the production of the new generation model will be launched at the plant of the joint venture between Toyota and the GAC concern (this joint venture now makes the previous Camry). The start of sales is scheduled for spring next year.
