AvtoVAZ may start producing Chinese Chery cars. This became known to the Avtograd news community on the VKontakte social network.

According to insiders, a Chery Tiggo 7 Pro test car was photographed next to the AvtoVAZ engineering center in Tolyatti. The domestic automaker plans to start producing Chery crossovers after a failed collaboration with the FAW concern.
In the summer of 2023, AvtoVAZ announced the launch of production of new Lada X-Cross 5 cars, the brand of which hides the Chinese car FAW Bestune T77, at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, but the crossover never went on sale.
At the same time, out of 10,000 Lada X-Cross 5 cars, which were planned to be produced at the plant in 2023, only about 100 copies rolled off the assembly line.
Insiders noted that the reason for the breakdown of agreements with the Chinese FAW could be the American sanctions imposed against AvtoVAZ.
