Chinese car company BYD has announced the launch of its new BYD Seagull electric car in the European market, which is expected to take place in the second half of next year. At a recent event on the eve of the Beijing Auto Show, BYD executive vice president Stella Li confirmed plans to capture at least 10% of the European market by 2030. The new product will appear in the UK at the end of 2025 and will become a direct competitor to models such as the Dacia Spring. The Seagull electric mini from BYD is positioned as the brand’s most affordable electric car. The current model, 3.78 meters long, is equipped with a single 74 hp electric motor. and is offered with different battery capacities, the maximum of which (39 kWh) provides a range of up to 406 km under less stringent Chinese regulations. In China, the price of the base model is about 8,000 pounds sterling (920 thousand rubles, according to the current exchange rate). It is expected that in the next generation of Seagull the car’s dimensions will increase slightly, especially in light of the adaptation of its design to meet Euro NCAP requirements.
