Russian automaker AvtoVAZ is developing a hybrid all-wheel drive vehicle. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Autopotok” with reference to the representative of the company, Alexander Vinogradov.
“At the Autonet conference, AvtoVAZ representative Alexander Vinogradov just said that the company sees greater prospects in hybrid technologies than in purely electric ones. A prototype of a hybrid car is already being developed. It will be an all-wheel drive vehicle, in which the front axle is driven by an internal combustion engine, and the rear axle by an electric motor,” the report says.
It is unknown whether this will be a new car model or a version of one of the existing models. In addition, it is not clear when such a car will appear and whether it will become serial.
Before this, it became known that the German company Mercedes-Benz presented an electric version of its G-Class SUV. The car is equipped with a four-motor transmission – one engine for each wheel. The total output of the system is 587 hp. The new product accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, with a top speed limited to 180 km/h.
