Chinese electric vehicle startup Nio has unveiled a new version of its ET7 sedan at the Beijing Auto Show. The starting price, according to Reuters, is set at 428,000 yuan (approximately 5.44 million rubles, according to current exchange rates), making it one of the most expensive electric sedans on the Chinese market. Nio Chief Executive Officer, William Lee, said that Since deliveries began at the end of March 2022, around 30,000 units of the ET7 have been sold, making it the best-selling electric sedan in China in the price category above 400,000 yuan. The new version of the sedan supports seamless screen mirroring and sync with both iOS and Android devices. While Nio’s sales showed a 3.2% decline in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, other startups in the space electric vehicles such as the Huawei-backed Aito, Li Auto and LeapMotor reported strong sales growth. Nio, despite losses, continues to sell cars in China and Europe through its own stores and last November announced plans to cut its workforce by 10 % as part of efforts to improve efficiency and reduce costs amid growing competition. Additionally, in February, Nio announced a technology licensing deal with electric vehicle startup Forseven, a unit of Abu Dhabi investment fund CYVN, as part of the company’s strategy to grow revenue overseas.
