New Tiggo 8 presented, which will appear in Russia

The new Chery Tiggo 8 was presented at the Beijing Auto Show. At the moment, not much is known about the model, but some information has already begun to appear. In particular, representatives of the brand confirmed to Chinese Cars that the crossover will definitely appear on the Russian market.

Chery representatives found it difficult to name the exact dates when the new Tiggo 8 will appear on the Russian market. Most likely, this will happen next year. It is also unknown under what name the car will be presented on the domestic market. Whether it will be just Tiggo 8 or 8 Pro will become clear closer to the announcement of the model for Russia.

It should be noted that although at the exhibition the car was called “New Tiggo 8”, this does not mean that it will refer specifically to the regular “eight”. Most likely, the car will become a relative of the local Tiggo 8 Plus, which in our country is sold with the “Pro” prefix.

What is clear from the photo

The front of the new Tiggo 8 has an interesting two-tone design. On the side of the chrome radiator grille there are contrasting inserts that match the shade of the roof. The crossover also received hidden door handles and a single taillight element on the trunk. And its LED headlights are complemented by intricate content.

Despite all the changes, the car remained quite recognizable from the side. Judging by the characteristic contours of the body, it is developed on the previous T1X architecture. However, perhaps this is its most recent modification, on which models such as the Jaecoo J7 and Jetour T2 are based.

The car interior is decorated in the most modern and laconic Chery style. The center console features a large touchscreen that is likely 15.6 inches diagonal. On the dividing tunnel there are two wireless chargers, a pair of cup holders and a block of physical buttons. And behind the touch-sensitive steering wheel is a digital instrument panel. By the way, the gear selector has most likely also moved behind the steering wheel.

Power characteristics

As for the technical part, according to currently available information, two gasoline engines to choose from, as well as an alternative power plant, can be installed under the hood of the crossover. According to the 390T nameplate, which was placed on the car at the exhibition, under the hood of the crossover there is a 2-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 254 hp. With. and a torque of 390 Nm. There is no information about the all-wheel drive system yet, but its presence has already been promised.

The second power unit for the Tiggo 8 should be a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. In both cases, only Chery’s own 8-speed automatic transmission will be used as a transmission.

As for the alternative powertrain, it will most likely be the current C-DM hybrid system. It is powered by a fifth-generation 1.5-liter Acteco turbo engine producing 156 hp. With. It is paired with a single-stage DHT transmission, which is a combination of a CVT and an electric motor in one unit. The power of such a unit is 204 hp. With. The total output of the entire set is 360 hp. With. And the combined power reserve reaches 1,400 km.

However, it should be clarified that at the moment Chery representatives have not yet provided official information about the power characteristics of the new crossover.
