The bottomless Chinese market favors electric vehicles, which forces even such conservative automakers as Toyota to electrify the local range at an accelerated pace. In addition to reducing the price of the local version of the global bZ4X crossover, Toyota introduced the bZ3 electric sedan in China two years ago. Now two electric crossovers are shown in Beijing at once – Toyota bZ3C and bZ3X, which have the same unit base, but different formats.

Toyota bZ3C is a coupe-shaped SUV aimed at a young audience. It has a fashionable appearance with a “floating” roof. Like the mentioned bZ3 sedan, this crossover was created jointly with the Chinese companies FAW and BYD.

The tall Toyota bZ3X crossover looks like the complete opposite: it has classic “off-road” proportions, although the corporate design with narrow lighting technology is the same. The development of this car was carried out by the GAC-Toyota joint venture.

The interiors of the two cars have a similar architecture: the central place on the front panel is occupied by a large media system tablet, and a much more compact screen is intended for the instruments. But the coupe-like Toyota bZ3C has a lower stance and bright trim.

Toyota has not yet shared technical details about this pair. Only the use of the e-TNGA platform and the latest set of electronic assistants is announced. After all, Toyota bZ3C and bZ3X are still in pre-production status, and their production in China will begin only next year. But such an early premiere allows Toyota to indicate its intentions to squeeze out Chinese manufacturers in the electric vehicle segment.
