The grave of Mikhail Gorshenev at the Bogoslovskoye cemetery in St. Petersburg was attacked by vandals. A swastika was drawn on the portraits of the musician, flowers were scattered, and slabs with lamps were destroyed.
The destruction was noticed on April 19 by concerned fans. And they immediately tried to rectify the situation by tidying up everything scattered, erasing all the inscriptions, taking Pot’s portraits home at night and returning them to their place in the morning. Fans of “The King and the Jester” appealed to the cemetery administration with a request to install surveillance cameras and organize a patrol; they were promised an answer by the end of the week.
Fans also launched a petition demanding that the burial be kept safe:
Thousands of people from all over the country and all over the world visit the Bogoslovskoye cemetery every day to pay tribute to the memory of the legend – Mikhail Yuryevich Gorshenev. His work played an important role in the lives of each of us. But every day we are faced with terrible manifestations of disrespect for his memory. True admirers of his work diligently clean up after these criminals, pick up the fragments and take care of the grave even in winter at -25 degrees. But this should not be our responsibility.
Let us remember that a year ago the grave of Mikhail Gorshenev was desecrated by organizing an erotic photo shoot.
