The star of “9th Company”, who took part in the films of the Khakass film studio “Wind of Change”, Amadou Mamadakov sharply criticized the decision to give part of the space in the National Theater of the Altai Republic to retail outlets. On his social network page he posted the following:

“The National Theater of the Altai Republic continues to break through the bottom. I am silent about the trade in panties and fur coats. Remove the word theater from the facade, do not disgrace it.”

Of course, not everyone shared this opinion, which was reported in the comments under the post. The actor did not deviate from his opinion and entered into the discussion. In defending his position, Amadou appealed to his own experience.

One of the commentators expressed the opinion that the situation that outraged the actor is depressing, but this is how all cultural institutions make money:

“The point of view “it’s like this everywhere” has many adherents: They sell shoes in the Chevalkov library, all cultural centers in Novosibirsk regularly open their doors for fur fairs. This is the case in all cities, Gorno-Altaisk is no exception. Last year I was at this construction exhibition and I I really liked it, excellent companies and various products were presented, I don’t think this event is shameful. If we can achieve self-sufficiency through cultural events, great. However, even commercially successful performances and concerts do not always save institutions as a whole.”

Known for the films “Star”, “72 Meters”, “9th Company”, “Mongol”, “28 Panfilov’s Men”, “Heart of Parma” and the TV series “Soldiers”, Amadou Mamadakov did not agree that this is observed in all republics:

This is the level of thinking: compare the House of Culture with the only Theater, and this is the opinion of everyone in Altai. For some reason, in Tuva, in Buryatia, in Khakassia, in Yakutia, this is not the case in theaters, where there are several theaters. Yes, it’s a disaster… Trade has completely clouded people’s consciousness. And the worst thing is that this consciousness has taken root in the ruling figures and in their entourage. They are impoverished, unhappy, they are ready to justify anything and repeat it like a mantra – self-sufficiency, profit, commerce, nothing bad about it… But everyone is in jeeps, in cottages and branded clothes. You confirm once again that we have completely lost the concept of what theater is…”

Let us recall that the importance of not mixing commercial gain with the spiritual meaning of the theater was spoken about in an interview with Khakassia news agency by the actor of the Skazka puppet theater Edgard Arutunov:

“And the glory of the Skazka theater is that it is interesting in its creativity. And not because every month they overwhelm the audience and funding plans. We understand that all this is needed. But the same funding plan can be used in different ways fulfill.

There was a wonderful film called “Dumb Fat Bunny”. It said that in order to make money, the sausage king was allowed into the theater. And he placed sausages in the foyer, instructed the actors to go out during intermission in costumes and, as it were, buy them.

Another example – there was a period when the drama theater rented out premises for fur coats. Yes, he carried out the plan, but excuse me, where did the creativity go? Still, the main thing in the theater is creativity. In fact, audiences love our theater for its experiments, for its classical performances, for its quality. If there is quality, then the viewer will go and, accordingly, the plan and everything else will be carried out.”

Apparently people really employees theater, we agree that art should prioritize spiritual values, not commercial ones.

Amadou Vasilyevich’s polemic with those commentators who tried to explain what was happening like this deserves special attention: “Apparently, they are trying to make money if there are few good performances and spectators…”, “Are they trying to make money or is it the only venue in the city of this scale?”

Amadou Mamadakov noted:

“Indeed, you have to pay your surroundings. And the theater can sit without a stage, without workshops, without accounting. But they took the name and hung it on the facade and they make money. He also sold underpants and fur coats. Conveniently. But people think – well, that’s it such a theater, with underpants and technology. There is no other idea of the theater, like yours, as I understand. Other republics laugh and laugh at our idea of theater.”

“Amadu, people don’t think so! What a theater with cowards and fur coats. Maybe you shouldn’t listen to instigators from other regions, with their hypocritical oohs and sighs, well, why compare theaters in regions where the culture of visiting theaters/concerts is completely different? They have a layer of people who go to the theater almost every week. With us, you go 3-4 times a season and you already get the derogatory label “concert goer,” which means “a slacker, not like me, a hard worker.” These exhibitions within the walls of the theater do not interfere with the perception of the performances separately from them. Yes, it’s better without them, but somehow it’s not fatal,” they objected to the actor.

The film star responded with the following words:

Indeed, other republics are laughing. I’m going. Recently I was in Khakassia and the Minister of Culture was surprised, how is this possible? What, you have absolutely no concept of theater? And the same in Buryatia, in Tuva. I don’t consider them instigators.

Also the head of Khakassia says, that the culture of Khakassia is being raised by the Altaians who moved to us. A striking example is Arthur Marluzhokov. Yes, this layer disappeared in our country when, in the 90s, the theater stood destroyed to the foundation and the Russian troupe and the Altai troupe were dispersed. A generation has grown up that absolutely does not understand the importance of theater, which considers people of culture to be third class and gives a stigma to those who go.

The whole city is in shopping areas. Few? Double standards with the name “national theater”. It would be better to remove the word theater from the façade. Don’t disgrace the word theater. To be honest, call it “an arts and trade center,” as it is according to the documents.”

The example of Artur Viktorovich is definitely striking. The Honored Artist of the Republics of Altai and Khakassia, singer and artistic director of the Republican Philharmonic was accepted by many stage venues in the country, but his native stage was found precisely in Khakassia. Hospitable Khakassia is open to the development of not only the musical sphere.

So, Moscow filmmakers and famous actors arrived in the republic for the filming of the film “Chekago”: Ivan Kokorin, Yuri Kuznetsov, Igor Zhizhikin and others. In addition to Amadou Mamadakova, comedian actress Marina Fedunkiv and Tuvan actress Lyanea Ondur took part in the filming of the ethno-mystical film “Shaman”. And the republic’s theaters invite guests from the capital for productions, bring their own performances to audiences from neighboring regions, and participate in festivals and competitions at various (even international) levels.
