Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted that at the peak of the confrontation with Sylvester Stallone he tried to hinder the development of his career, TMZ Presents reports.
Schwarzenegger cited as an example an incident on the set of the film “Stop! Or my mother will shoot.” Arnold made sure that Stallone got the role in the comedy because he considered the film a failure.
“I was, of course, in heaven.” I felt that the only way I could catch him was if he stumbled, – said Schwarzenegger.
Despite Schwarzenegger’s forecasts, the film was able to gross $72 million. Stallone’s role did not become as successful as others, and his performance in the film was called “ridiculous and unfunny.”
During a joint interview, the actors joked about their rivalry, which is a thing of the past. Arnold admitted that he did stupid things while trying to compete with his colleague.
Stallone said he felt motivated by competing with Schwarzenegger. The actor said he saw Arnold as a threat. Stallone told reporters that he admired his colleague’s “resilience,” and Schwarzenegger praised his colleague for his consistency.
