China and India called on Russia and Ukraine to negotiate

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at a meeting of the UN Security Council called on the international community to facilitate the negotiation process with the participation of the parties to the conflict in Ukraine. Wang Yi and Indian Foreign Minister Subramanyam Jaishankar said that Moscow and Kyiv should start a dialogue.

“It is extremely important to cease fire and stop. China will not sit idly by, let alone add fuel to the fire, and will continue to play its part. At the same time, we support the European Union and major European countries to continue active mediation and make every effort to achieve peace,” said Wang Yi.

He noted that the conflict in Ukraine is expanding and protracted, and the negative side effects are becoming more and more serious, which China does not like. According to the Chinese Foreign Minister, Beijing supports the resumption of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine without preconditions.

Subramanyam Jaishankar also announced a return to dialogue. Before that, he called for an “immediate cessation of all hostilities.”
