The Qazvaq plant for the production of coronavirus vaccines has been repurposed, said the chief sanitary doctor of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aizhan Esmagambetova. Now it produces vaccines for farm animals, Orda.kz reports.

According to Esmagambetova, the second phase of construction is now being completed. This work should be completed by the end of the year.

“Vaccines for dular dermatitis, avian influenza and animal distemper. There is demand today for the products produced by the plant; they are not exported. Kazbiopharm holding was created. The holding is currently developing its international cooperation. There are already agreements and agreements signed on technology transfer. This is primarily a pangolin vaccine, signed by an agreement with the French, and its production is planned to begin in 2025.” said Esmagambetova on the sidelines of the Senate.

These vaccines will have a GMP certificate, which will allow Kazbiopharm to participate in the export of its products. A project to produce a vaccine against foot-and-mouth disease is also in the works.

GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) is an international standard that consists of rules and regulations for the production of cosmetics, foods, dietary supplements and active ingredients.
