Experts analyzed information about 50,205 children aged 0 to 5 years. As it turned out, due to Covid-related restrictions, there was a slight decrease in communication skills (by 3%), problem solving abilities (by 2%) and personal-social skills (by 2%). There were no changes in motor skills, both fine and gross.

As experts said, many studies have demonstrated that the coronavirus pandemic and related restrictive measures have changed the lives of a huge number of people. Many have faced stress and high anxiety; in addition, the pandemic has worsened the quality of life of children, negatively affected their psyche and sleep, and increased the likelihood of obesity.

However, there are also studies that have demonstrated the benefits of social restrictions. For example, Irish researchers explained how children born during pandemic years differ. As it turned out, children born during Covid have a better intestinal microbiome composition than those born before the pandemic. In addition, they are less likely to suffer from allergies.
