The true reason for the dispute over Tosya in “Girls” has been revealed

--

In the spring of 1962, the comedy “Girls” (18+) was released, which instantly won the hearts of Soviet viewers and became a cult work. Even after many years, the film continues to attract interest among new generations who rethink the characters.

The authors on the Zen channel “Cinema: a step from reality” raise the question of Ilya Kovrigin, played by Nikolai Rybnikov. Many generations criticized him for his dispute with Tosya, considering his actions soulless. However, the analysis shows that Ilya did not act out of a desire to offend anyone.

Film critics note that Ilya Kovrigin, who grew up surrounded by women, was not used to taking other people’s feelings into account. His decision to argue was caused by a desire to win, and not by a desire to offend Tosya. Tosya, who has an independent character, became just another “target” for him.

“Ilya is used to the attention of women and is confident that he can win anyone he wants. So Tosya became for him only a new target in the game, not realizing her feelings,” shares the opinion of film lovers.

Thus, Ilya Kovrigin should not be considered malicious. This character did not seek to destroy Tose’s life, and his actions in the film should not be condemned as evil.

Note that such reinterpretations of characters are often found in modern analysis of classical works, where old stories acquire new interpretations. This is especially true for films, where a deep look at the characters’ characters can change the overall perception of the film. Kovrigin, presented in “Girls”, is a prime example of how changing the context of perception can redefine an image.

It should also be taken into account that images in cinema are formed not only through dialogue or the actions of characters, but also through cinematic techniques such as editing, music and camera work. These aspects combine to create a complex image that can be interpreted differently by different generations of viewers. It is this multi-layered approach to filmmaking that makes classic cinema a priceless art.

Analysis of works such as “Girls” helps to better understand changes in public attitudes and cultural codes. What was once perceived as the norm may today be considered archaic or even unacceptable. This is especially important for understanding how cinema not only reflects, but also shapes cultural standards and expectations.
