The original story was completely different.

Yuri Olesha presented his fairy tale “Three Fat Men” in 1924, and 42 years later a film adaptation directed by Alexei Batalov appeared on Soviet screens. The director invited many bright movie stars to play the leading roles, but the public is still dissatisfied with his version of the story.

As the authors of the Zen channel “Citizen” write, Batalov’s film adaptation is missing one of the most important characters. The director excluded from the story Tuba, the old scientist who created the doll of Tutti’s heir. Because of this, according to fans of the film, Batalov was unable to finish or explain some of the plot twists, because Tub was an important character in the literary basis of the film.

“The film with this hero would have been completely different”, “They changed the plot in vain”, – say netizens.

At the same time, some fans are sure: Batalov decided to cut out Tuba because he wanted to make a story specifically for a children’s audience. Olesha was too cruel to his hero, so Batalov removed him because he was filming a fairy tale.
