10 years later, Tomb Raider was re-released on PC, but few will be able to play it. A decade of console exclusivity was just the beginning

In 2024, the Tomb Raider franchise returns with another re-release, which console enthusiasts have been researching for many years.

Users noticed that in April 2024, a re-release of Tomb Raider Definitive Edition was released on PC. It was a console exclusive for about 10 years.

This re-release was released back in 2014 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. For many years, only the standard version of the game was offered on PC (2013).

However, the end of console exclusivity is just the beginning for “hardcore PC gamers.” The fact is that Tomb Raider Definitive Edition has a distribution issue – the game is not currently available on PC on Steam, but the re-release can be found in the Microsoft Store. It is not entirely clear whether this project will appear on the Valve service.

Tomb Raider Definitive Edition supports Play Anywhere feature, i.e. owners of the Xbox One edition will be able to download the game on PC.

This re-release includes all additional content and is externally different from the original: Lara Croft’s model has been slightly reworked, the physics of hair and equipment has been improved, and the lighting has been improved.
