Archetype Entertainment, founded by veterans of BioWare and Naughty Dog, has highlighted some aspects of the upcoming sci-fi combat role-playing AAA game Exodus.
Exodus takes place in the Omega Centauri cluster. The player will be immersed in a universe full of diverse populations, both human and non-human. In the video, company co-founders James Olen and Chad Robertson talked about the different species players will encounter.
While the Celestials, descendants of the ancient humans of Earth, have become the dominant figures in the Exodus universe, players can expect to interact with a variety of other species. Olen noted that while all species in Exodus are of Earth origin, over the millennia they have evolved into strange and wonderful creatures, far beyond the usual depiction of aliens found in typical science fiction franchises. Among them are the Awakened – intelligent animals from Earth whose evolution has led them on amazing paths.
But the question remains: will players have the option to play with non-human characters in Exodus? Robertson’s answer suggests a capabilities-constraints approach. While he refrained from giving a definitive answer, he did say that players will be in for an exciting gaming experience and more details will be revealed over time.
Exodus will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. One of the characters will be voiced by Matthew McConaughey.
