And took part in the Arctic expedition
The completely domestic tracked all-terrain vehicle TM-140 of the High-Precision Complexes holding of the State Corporation Rostec has passed acceptance tests of the interdepartmental commission of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. For three days, the machine created at Kurganmashzavod passed test tasks, according to the results of which it proved its high performance, the press service of Rostec reports.
“During the tests, the TM-140 easily overcame swampy terrain, a 35-degree hill, and complex relief drops. Now the issue of accepting equipment for the supply of the Russian Emergencies Ministry is being considered, ”the message says.
According to the executive director of Kurganmashzavod Petr Tyukov, the principle underlying the modular layout of the TM-140 Kurganmashzavod is a completely new approach in the development of Russian industrial engineering. In addition to the universal module that allows you to solve problems of a different nature, the all-terrain vehicle can be equipped with a power plant, a workshop for repair, restoration, welding and metalwork. And a high power reserve of more than 500 kilometers allows the crew to cover long distances autonomously.
Prior to acceptance tests, the Kurgan all-terrain vehicle took part in the Safe Arctic 2023 expedition, organized by the Russian Emergencies Ministry this spring. In addition to two TM-140 equipped with accommodation modules, more than 20 units of domestic all-terrain wheeled and tracked vehicles entered the route. In 12 days, the expedition covered about 1,600 kilometers of the Arctic tundra across the territories of three constituent entities of Russia: the Republic of Komi, the Nenets and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs. Rescuers worked out scenarios of various incidents every day. Kurgan TM-140s not only easily overcame snowy impassability, but also rescued other crews in extreme road conditions. Throughout the route, heavy equipment was transported on board. The expedition members highly appreciated the ease of control, driving performance, reliability and comfort of the TM-140 crew in the Arctic.
Recall that last year the TM-140 participated in a similar polar expedition in Chukotka, where it also proved to be a reliable and functional vehicle. TM-140 is included in the KMZ civilian product line. The main profile of the enterprise is the production of BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles and BMD-4M airborne assault vehicles, as well as other lightly armored military equipment. She receives high praise from the participants of the military special operation.
