This is more than a year earlier.
Sixty-two thousand children vacationed in children’s camps this summer. This is almost half of all Voronezh schoolchildren and more than in 2022, they reported at a weekly meeting at the mayor’s office. The number has increased due to new specialized shifts, officials believe.
Also this year the entertainment program and menu have been changed. For example, they took into account the wishes of the children and cooked less fish and liver, served more summer salads and vegetables. In 2024 they plan to update the entertainment and educational program.
City officials expect the permanent camps to accommodate the same number of campers. In the rest, it depends on subsidies allocated by the regional government.
– Camps that do not have heating are mothballed until the next school year. Bidding will be held for repair work to tidy up the area for the new season. In the spring of 2024, repair work will begin in all camps,” said Lyubov Kulakova, head of the Voronezh education department.
Officials also said that this summer they managed to find jobs for almost 13 thousand schoolchildren. And this is also more than planned. Mostly teenagers worked in schools. But there were also those who worked, for example, in catering or in event organizing companies. Arina Belozertseva
