Gatchina. 20 November. INTERFAX NORTHWEST – A foreigner who illegally entered Russia was detained on the border with Estonia in the Leningrad region, the press service of the FSB border department for the region reported on Tuesday.
The French citizen was spotted a short distance from Ivangorod. According to the FSB, he admitted that he crossed Narva by boat, bypassing the established checkpoints from Estonia to Russia.
A case was opened under Part 1 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal crossing of the state border of the Russian Federation). The foreigner was sent to a pre-trial detention center for 30 days.
According to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, for illegally crossing the state border, the violator faces 2 to 6 years in prison, notes the border department.
