For killing an animal he faces a prison sentence.

In the Firovsky district, a few kilometers from the village of Pukhtina, the remains of an elk carcass with bullet holes were discovered. Four backpacks with meat, three knives and an ax were also found there. The damage is estimated at 240 thousand rubles.

The police examined the scene and the surrounding area, seized traces of the alleged criminal and evidence.

During operational search activities, the suspected poacher was identified. He turned out to be a 36-year-old local resident, according to the Tver Region Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It turned out that the man was hunting in an area where shooting ungulates is prohibited. However, he shot an elk there, butchered its carcass and left the meat in the forest, intending to later pick it up by car.

The defendant confessed to the crime to the police. A criminal case has been opened against him for illegal hunting. He faces up to five years in prison.

Let us remind you that another case of illegal hunting occurred near the Zavidovo nature reserve in September. There, poachers shot and killed a female sika deer.
