In the Big Port of St. Petersburg, since the beginning of the year, employees of the North-Western Interregional Directorate of Rosselkhoznadzor have controlled the import of more than 115 thousand tons of fresh tangerines, clementines, satsumas and tangelos.
Citrus fruits arrived from nine countries, most of all from South Africa, Morocco and Argentina, the press service of the supervisory agency reported.
It is noted that not all batches of fruit have successfully passed quarantine phytosanitary control. Thus, about 600 tons were infected with Mediterranean fruit fly larvae. According to the owners, such products were disinfected by fumigation or returned to the senders.
“Consignments of fruit that successfully passed quarantine phytosanitary control, their volume amounted to about 115 thousand tons, were allowed to be imported into Russia,” noted the Rosselkhoznadzor department.
