Experts from Forbes magazine have identified the most unprofitable Russian bank based on the results of 2022. The first line of the rating was taken by VTB, whose financial and accounting statements were carefully analyzed by analysts.
In the study, experts also used data from tax authorities and Rosstat.
Analysts calculated VTB’s loss at 612.6 billion rubles. According to experts, the credit institution suffered more than other Russian banks from foreign policy risks. Forbes is confident that VTB is most vulnerable to the risks of international restrictions.
The Top 10 most unprofitable banks also included Alfa Bank, Gazstroyprom, Ozon, State Transport Leasing Company, Svyaznoy, Russian Coal, VK, Moscow Metro and Russian Post. On the contrary, Gazprom became the most profitable financial structure in Russia in 2022, although its profits decreased by almost 40%.
