According to experts, May is the month with the highest level of waste generation. City cleanup days are taking place, volunteers are starting to clean up recreational areas, and dacha communities are coming to life.
“If the New Year holidays have peak loads for several days, as a rule, these are December 30-31 and January 6-7, then May is characterized by an increased load throughout the entire month,” said Olga Lyubenko, head of the department for organizing and controlling the removal of solid waste.
Last year, volumes in May increased by 13% compared to April. An additional 121 thousand cubic meters of garbage were collected and sent to landfills.
“Stress points” during this period are the territories near houses located in close proximity to the exit from SNT and the private sector – in Pervomaisky, Dzerzhinsky and Kalininsky districts. Spontaneous landfills are formed there every day. Summer residents do not want to enter into agreements with Spetsavtohozyaystvo. Therefore, they simply dump waste next to the first bin they come across on their way to the city.
To solve the seasonal problem, specialists draw up a duty schedule in advance, carry out repairs of special equipment, and redistribute the load along routes. Reserve vehicles are also being taken to the training grounds. Additional cards are broken down for MSW disposal.
