Alexander Velichko is no longer the mayor of the Taishet district

Velichko’s powers were terminated due to non-compliance with restrictions and prohibitions, failure to fulfill obligations established by laws on combating corruption and organizing local self-government. The decision came into force.


Glagol38 reported that on February 14, 2024, the Tashetsky District Court satisfied the claim of the Taishet interdistrict prosecutor. Alexander Velichko filed an appeal, and today, April 24, it was denied. The Irkutsk Regional Court confirmed the decision to early terminate the powers of the head of the Taishet district.

Alexander Velichko was born in the village of Talaya, Taishet district, and was the director of the Taishet Heating Networks and Heat Supply companies. In 2013, he was elected as a deputy and then chairman of the Taishet District Duma. In 2016, with the support of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, he was elected mayor of the Taishet district.

In 2017, he was detained for fraud, a year later he was released on his own recognizance, and the criminal case was closed due to the statute of limitations. In 2019, a new case appeared, which today has reached a conclusion.
