This year, 11th-graders will enter the IT and engineering faculties of universities; for 9th-graders going to college, information technology is also a priority, with pedagogy in second place. Parents of graduates from Samara took part in a survey of the service for finding high-paying jobs SuperJob.

The majority (59%) of parents of 9th graders who do not plan to study in 10th grade say their child is ready to enter a secondary educational institution. Among parents of 11th-graders, the share of those whose child will enter a higher education institution was 66%.

Judging by the responses of parents, the most popular field among university applicants in 2024 is information technology: the children of 25% of respondents plan to become programmers or IT specialists. In second place are engineering specialties (17%). In third place are specialties in the field of fundamental or applied science (12%). The children of 10% of respondents are preparing to become teachers. 9% of parents said their children want to be doctors.

Those who enter secondary educational institutions also most often make a choice in favor of IT specialties: 25% of respondents spoke about such intentions of children. In second place in popularity this year is the pedagogical field (17% of respondents). 15% of parents said that their children plan to become doctors. 10% of parents said that their children would study to become workers and craftsmen in construction or manufacturing, 8% – to become designers.
