In the Tyumen region, 705 people suffered from tick bites. Currently, no tick-borne infections have been registered in the region.

Since March 4, tick activity has been monitored weekly in the region.

According to the Office of Rospotrebnadzor in the Tyumen Region, as of April 22, 705 people sought help from tick bites from medical organizations in the region, 146 of them were children under 14 years of age.

Since March 19, cases of tick bites have been recorded in Tyumen, Ishim, and Tobolsk. And also in the Zavodoukovsky urban district, Tyumen, Tobolsk, Isetsky, Nizhnetavdinsky, Uporovsky and Yalutorovsky districts. In 100% of cases, the victims received emergency prophylaxis with anti-tick immunoglobulin. As of April 22, no cases of tick-borne encephalitis or tick-borne borreliosis have been registered. 39 thousand 200 people were vaccinated against encephalitis, of which 25 483 people belong to occupational risk groups, and 13 717 are children under 14 years of age.

Rospotrebnadzor explained that vaccination is the most effective method of preventing tick-borne encephalitis. Currently, you can still have time to get vaccinated using an accelerated schedule consisting of two vaccinations. Revaccination is necessary one year after completion of vaccination.

In places of public recreation, in the territories of kindergartens, schools, medical organizations, cultural and sports facilities, and cemeteries, acaricidal treatments are carried out. In total, 375 hectares were treated for ticks, including the territory of children’s recreation and health organizations, the department noted.

Experts recommend that if you are bitten by a tick, seek medical help as soon as possible. Residents of the regional capital can receive it at the emergency department of the Tyumen Regional Infectious Diseases Clinical Hospital at the address: Komsomolskaya Street, 54 A. Residents of the region will receive assistance in regional hospitals of municipalities.

Removed ticks are examined for the presence of pathogens of infectious diseases in the laboratories of the Federal Budgetary Institution of Health “Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Tyumen Region” and the Federal Budgetary Institution “Tyumen Research Institute of Regional Infectious Pathology” of Rospotrebnadzor. Since the beginning of the 2024 epidemic season, 139 ticks have been examined, in 2.9% of cases the antigen of the tick-borne encephalitis virus was detected, in 33.8% of cases – the causative agent of tick-borne borreliosis.
