In 2023, residents of the Pskov region took out over 180 thousand compulsory motor vehicle liability insurance policies. This is 3.8% more than in 2022, PAI was told in the Pskov branch of the Central Bank of Russia.

More than half of the policies were issued electronically, and the popularity of this option for concluding contracts in the region is constantly growing.

The average cost of an insurance policy increased over the year and amounted to 5.1 thousand rubles. At the same time, the average insurance payment also increased, which at the end of 2023 amounted to 74.9 thousand rubles. This is largely due to the increase in the cost of cars and spare parts.

“Since March of this year, drivers have the opportunity to take out a short-term MTPL policy – for a period from one day to three months. Such a policy will be useful if you plan to sell your car and see no point in purchasing annual insurance or temporarily transferring the vehicle to another person. Previously, a motor vehicle liability insurance contract could only be concluded for a year, limiting the period of use to at least three months if desired. For example, it was possible to buy insurance for the summer,” noted Valery Frolov, acting manager of the Pskov region branch of the North-Western Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia.

To calculate the cost of short-term compulsory motor liability insurance, insurance companies independently set coefficients, so before purchasing a policy, you should compare prices in advance and choose the most profitable option.
