An athlete from Buryatia, Alexander Khaltagarov, won the title of Russian champion in checkers in the Krasnodar region. This was reported to the Ministry of Sports of the Republic.

The Russian Chess and Checkers Championship among persons with musculoskeletal disorders took place from April 10 to 20. 26 athletes from 12 regions took part in the checkers championship, and 34 athletes from 24 regions took part in the chess championship.

Alexander Khaltagarov confidently walked the entire tournament distance and became the champion. Now he will represent the country at the World Checkers Championship in May in Turkey.

Another representative of Buryatia, chess coach and teacher at school No. 8, Artem Sadykov, took fourth place. He lost to the bronze medalist with equal points scored according to the additional coefficient. He placed eighth in the blitz tournament.
