The Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Novosibirsk issued a decision in the case of the Elton bar, accused of promoting non-traditional sexual relations. The reason for the investigation was materials posted on the establishment’s Telegram channel and a video on YouTube containing LGBT* symbols and signs of propaganda of the movement, thereby the bar committed an administrative offense under Part 3 of Art. 6.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations and (or) preferences, gender reassignment using the media and (or) information and telecommunication networks (including the Internet).
The bar’s defense denied guilt, claiming that the video was created by a third-party blogger, and the Telegram channel does not belong to the establishment. However, the court, based on the expert opinion of the ANO “Center of Expertise” and other evidence, on April 10, 2024, found “Elton John” guilty of committing an administrative offense.
The bar was given a fine of 500 thousand rubles. The court’s decision has not yet entered into legal force.
The LGBT* organization is recognized as extremist and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation.
