The all-Russian sports event for free lifting of weights “Victory Record” will be held on May 9 on the square in front of the monument to Alexander III in Irkutsk. The action is held annually and is dedicated to the celebration of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. The press service of the regional government reported this on April 24, 2024.
The opening will take place at 11.30, then the competition will begin. Participants will be registered from 10.30. Preliminary applications can be submitted until May 7 in three ways:

Anyone can join, regardless of age and level of athletic training. In Irkutsk, the weight of the weights will vary from 6 to 32 kilograms. Everyone chooses their own exercise – clean and jerk or snatch. The gains of all participants in the action are summed up.
– The main goal of the sports event is for all participants in the free program to lift the weight 28 thousand 855 times according to the number of peaceful days that have passed from Victory Day 1945 to May 9, 2024. In addition to Irkutsk, residents of Tulun, Baikalsk, Taishet, Ust-Kut, Zheleznogorsk-Ilimsky, Zalarinsky, Bokhansky, Osinsky, Ekhirit-Bulagatsky, Irkutsk districts and other municipalities of the Irkutsk region plan to join the action. – said the Minister of Sports of the Irkutsk Region Pavel Bogatyrev.
