150 student teams have been created in Moscow. They include over three thousand participants – these are students from more than 80 educational organizations in the capital.

“Activities in student teams allow the city’s youth to develop their professional and non-professional skills. Here children can find like-minded people and friends, as well as demonstrate their abilities. It is the desire to make a contribution to the development of the city and the country that guides the members of this movement, so every year the student teams are replenished with talented children,” noted Margarita Savinkina, project manager “Youth of Moscow”.

The student movement began in the capital 65 years ago. Their history dates back to the first trip of a detachment of students from Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov to virgin lands in 1959. Now the Moscow branch of the all-Russian youth public organization “Russian Student Teams” is one of the leading youth organizations in the capital. Its members take part in all-Russian and international projects, become winners of professional skills competitions, and also help in holding city events.

The most popular specialties

From March to May, more than one thousand students in the capital study for free the features of the profession in which they will work during the summer working semester.

In March, a meeting of participants of Moscow student teams was held at the Russian Biotechnological University “Rosbiotech”. At it, the children were told about the features of the activities and schools of professional skills were opened. Training in them is conducted in construction, pedagogical, service, agricultural, medical and archaeological areas, as well as in the direction of guides.

More than 500 students who have chosen the construction direction will master the professions of reinforcement worker, concrete worker, plasterer, painter, heating station mechanic, electrician and installer. Moscow service teams will receive theoretical and practical skills in working as cooks, waiters, maids, bartenders and rescue sailors. This summer they will go to work in hotels, inns and restaurants in the capital and resorts.

The profession of a guide gained popularity in 2024 – more than 200 participants in Moscow student teams chose this specialty. There were only three such units in 2021–2022, but now there are already 13. In addition, over 200 medical students chose to work in medical units for summer employment. The children will have to study the features of providing assistance to the population.

Participants in agricultural teams will learn about working in fish processing and harvesting enterprises, in livestock complexes as veterinarians and livestock specialists. In addition, more than 50 members of archaeological teams are trained in vocational schools. Later they will go on regional expeditions and conduct excavations, thus contributing to the development of science.

Earlier in the capital, training of student teams of counselors began – more than 850 children began their journey to work in children’s camps.

The personal development of young people does not go unnoticed. Each squad has positions in which they can prove themselves as leaders and media professionals. Thus, as part of the school for commanders and commissars, children are taught the basics of maintaining documents related to employment, working in a team and organizing events. About 100 students who want to help squads advance in the media space are studying at the media school. They gain knowledge in the field of photography, video making and design.

Specialized units

Specialized units have recently received particular development, the number of which is growing every year. Now these are IT, archaeological, energy, restoration and other associations.

Members of specialized teams work at local facilities, most often within the profile of their university. The guys receive knowledge in specialized specialties and undergo training in the following programs: “System Analyst”, “Web Developer”, “IT Project Manager”, “UI/UX Designer” and “Digital Marketer”.

Energy teams created at the Moscow Energy Institute work at power grid facilities, and in the summer at Rosseti PJSC. In addition, the university also has construction teams, one of them works in the Moscow metro.

At the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering and the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, teams have been created that are engaged in the preservation and restoration of architectural objects, including historical monuments.

Work experience

This summer, students who have completed training in their chosen areas will go to work. They will have the opportunity to take part in the country’s most important projects organized by state corporations. The guys will work in large children’s camps, hotels and resorts, on passenger trains throughout Russia, and will also contribute to the development of the country. Their work experience will be recorded in the work book, and they will also be paid a salary.
