Turkish Airlines, after a scandal with the removal of Russians from flights, published a memo in Russian about transit through Istanbul to Latin America. It appeared on Tuesday, April 23, on the carrier’s website.
The company warned that in addition to the general rules, additional control measures may be applied to passengers whose flights arrive in Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, Cuba and Brazil.
“As national authorities may refuse entry into the country if the following requirements are met, similar controls may be carried out at the time of landing,” the memo states.

Previously, Russian diplomats tried to get an explanation from the Turkish side. They never received a “clear reaction”, so they recommended that Russian citizens think carefully before flying with Turkish Airlines, whose security service sometimes does not behave quite correctly with Russians. Diplomats also called on Russians to sue if Turkish Airlines refuses a flight to Latin America.
