Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov was detained on suspicion of taking a bribe, the Investigative Committee reported on its Telegram channel.
“On suspicion of committing a crime under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code (taking a bribe), Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Timur Vadimovich Ivanov was detained,” the department said.
It is noted that the Investigative Committee is carrying out the necessary investigative actions.
As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted, Vladimir Putin was informed about what happened. The head of the Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu was also notified in advance.
In 2012, Ivanov served as Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Moscow Region. From 2013 to 2016 – General Director of JSC Oboronstroy.
In May 2016, by presidential decree, he was appointed deputy head of the Ministry of Defense.
