A film about the legendary aircraft designer Nikolai Kamov is being filmed in Irkutsk

The premiere of the film “He Invented a Helicopter” about the Soviet aircraft designer, creator of the Ka family of helicopters, native of Irkutsk Nikolai Kamov, will take place in June. The scriptwriter and director of the film is Oksana Tsepilova. Another author of the script was Irkutsk resident Alexey Bazyuk. Oblastnaya reported this on April 24, 2024.

The film will take viewers through the entire life of an aircraft designer, to whom fate was not particularly favorable from birth. Russian theater and film actor Yan Tsapnik gave his voice to Nikolai Kamov. By coincidence, he was born in Irkutsk, where the family lived for several years.

– Nikolai Kamov was in many ways ahead of his time, at least 50 years. Many of his patents are still waiting in the wings. He was born in 1902, died in 1973. During this time he managed to make a large number of discoveries and inventions., says the film’s director. – It was important for us to show him not only as an inventor, a brilliant designer, but also as a person. And he was a very open, hospitable person, able to explain complex things in the simplest language. All this allowed him to gain the love and respect of loved ones, friends and colleagues.
