The Traktorozavodsky District Court announced the verdict of a 40-year-old motorist who hit two schoolchildren on an electric scooter. The injuries the teenagers received as a result of the accident were classified as serious bodily harm. This was reported to Vecherka by the press service of the Chelyabinsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.

The accident occurred on the evening of March 29, 2023 on Kulibina Street. A tired woman driving a Nissan Juke lost control and flew over the curb onto the sidewalk, where she hit an electric scooter carrying two 14-year-old schoolchildren.

“The driver was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” the prosecutor’s office clarified. “She was restricted in her freedom for two years and banned from driving for a similar period.

For the harm caused, the teenagers were awarded 500 thousand rubles, and the woman will pay 25 thousand to their legal representatives.

Accidents with scooters occur quite often in Chelyabinsk. Recently, in the north-west of Chelyabinsk, a Volkswagen driver crashed into a scooter driver who was crossing the road along a zebra crossing.
