Novgorod cheerleaders won awards at interregional competitions held in St. Petersburg.
Athletes of the “Union of Cheer Sports of the Novgorod Region” Varvara Zirdzinina, Anna Nikolaeva, Maria Startseva and Maria Fedotova became bronze medalists of the interregional competition “Chirmania 2024” in the discipline of cheerleading stunt for boys/girls 12-14 years old. Another bronze was won on the first day of competition by athletes in group stunts in the junior/junior women discipline.
On the second day of the competition, representatives of Veliky Novgorod increased their collection of awards. The Coyotes kids team won the silver medal in the large group discipline for boys and girls. The “Coyotes junior” team took an honorable 1st place in the large group mixed discipline.
Let us add that the above-mentioned “stunt” is a figure in which one person is thrown or lifted up. A pyramid is several stants connected to each other. The athlete who is at the top of the pyramid (usually a girl) and performs the most striking elements of the performance is called a “flyer”.
