A fire occurred in the north-east of the capital, the cause of which was the ignition of an electric bicycle on the balcony of one of the apartments. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation evacuated three people from the burning premises. The press service of the department reported this on Tuesday, April 23.
The fire was extinguished in an area of four square meters. 18 Emergency Situations Ministry employees and five pieces of equipment were involved in the fire extinguishing operation.
The department’s press service also recalled that electric bicycles are powered by lithium-ion batteries, damage to which can lead to a fire. Such devices can be extinguished only when completely immersed in water, it follows from the publication.
A day earlier, on April 22, an extension to a bakery plant caught fire in Sergiev Posad near Moscow. No one was injured as a result of the fire.
Another fire occurred in an industrial building on Stachki Street 1885 in Orekhovo-Zuevo on Sunday, April 21. As a result of the fire, one person was injured – a production employee. He was hospitalized with burns to his legs.
