The championship started today and will run until April 26 in Vologda at the Vityaz sports and recreation complex. A total of 60 athletes take part in the competition.
“Teams that take part in the championship of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia also take part in regions, play in major leagues, and take prizes. The development of football in the Federal Penitentiary Service is very high, and this championship has a strong influence on the development of football, cadets, employees and permanent staff. This event is intended to show not only their achievements in sports, but also to provide an opportunity to get to know each other for further cooperation. Vologda has shown itself to be a good organizer of other tournaments, there is trust in the city, which is why the mini-football championship is held in the regional capital“says the head of the department for providing combat training and sports events of the Central Scientific and Technical Institution of the Federal Penitentiary Service, Major of the Internal Service Roman Golyashov.
The opening ceremony of the championship was attended by representatives of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, the Government of the Vologda Region, the Administration of the city of Vologda, the Vologda regional organization of the Dynamo society, veterans, employees and students of the VIPE of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.
“I am glad to welcome all participants to our Vologda land. Just a few years ago we held the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service championship in volleyball, last year in track and field cross-country and service biathlon, and this year in mini-football. I am sure that everything will be held at a high level“- said the head of the Department of Physical Education and Mass Sports of Vologda Dmitry Zhiobakas.
Teams representing educational institutions of Vologda, Voronezh, Novokuznetsk, Perm, Ryazan and Samara take part in the competition. The matches will be played in a round-robin format. Each team will play in turn against everyone else. The winners of the competition will be those who score the most victories. A total of 15 games will be played.
“Football has taken me four years. This is my first time participating in such competitions. The level of our team is neither lower nor higher than others. Our biggest rivals are ourselves. I expect a decent result from the competition“,” shared Bogdan Mikhailov, a cadet at the Perm Institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.
