A parade of troops of the Voronezh garrison is planned to be held on Lenin Square on May 9 from 10:00 to 11:00. The head of the cultural department, Andrei Kharitonov, announced this on April 22 at a planning meeting at the mayor’s office.
He also recalled that the “Immortal Regiment” event will be held in Voronezh online, and there will be no fireworks this year.
At the same time, the city authorities intend to celebrate Victory Day in a colorful way. More than 2 thousand flags will appear on the streets of Voronezh, posters will decorate store windows, 10 video screens and one media facade will be installed in the city.
About 6.5 thousand St. George ribbons will be distributed to city residents on the streets. Honor guards will stand watch at the memorials from May 2 to May 9.
As for the security of public events, the authorities are now busy developing plans for the placement of turnstiles and metal detectors. Traffic in the city center will be blocked.
