This year it is planned to open flights from the airport in Barataevka to Nizhny Novgorod and Minsk. It is also planned to expand the Meteor route to Nizhny Novgorod. Governor Alexey Russkikh announced this during his annual report:
– After the modernization of the Ulyanovsk airport and runway, the directions of aviation routes have significantly expanded. Residents of the region have the opportunity to make direct flights to 8 largest cities in Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg, Sochi, Mineralnye Vody, Makhachkala and Kaliningrad). This year we plan to open new destinations to Nizhny Novgorod and Minsk.
Passenger traffic is also growing. In 2023, for the first time in the Soviet and modern history of the airport, 615.4 thousand people were transported. We are ready to reach the milestone of 1 million passengers by 2031. To further develop air transportation, we will strive for comprehensive modernization and expansion of the airport.
I would also like to note that a significant achievement was the resumption of passenger navigation along the Volga between Ulyanovsk and Kazan after a 20-year break. The modern comfortable vessel “Meteor” carried out 18 voyages. This year we plan to expand the route to Nizhny Novgorod.
