The head of Karelia instructed to develop the concept of a memorial to the soldiers of the Northern Military District | Petrozavodsk SPEAKS | Newspaper “Petrozavodsk” online

Helping SVO participants and their family members remains a key task for the Karelia authorities. This was stated by the head of the republic, Artur Parfenchikov, during a report on the activities of the regional government, which takes place this morning in the hall of the Karelian State Philharmonic.

At the beginning of the report, the memory of the Karelian soldiers who died at the front was honored with a minute of silence.

Their feat will never be forgotten,

– said the head of the region.

After this, Parfenchikov ordered to develop the concept of a memorial in memory of the fallen soldiers and determine its location. Representatives of the Karelian public should also participate in the discussion of these issues, the head of the republic emphasized.

As Artur Parfenchikov noted, the republic has retained a wide package of social support measures for fighters and members of their families, including free meals in schools and technical schools, one-time payments, monthly benefits for the children of deceased SVO participants and others. On behalf of the President of Russia, veterans of the Northern Military District receive free ownership of land plots.

Today, regional payments in Karelia are among the highest in the country. We pay attention to employment and retraining of SVO participants, medical rehabilitation,

– said the head of Karelia.

In 2023, on behalf of President Vladimir Putin, a branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation began operating in Petrozavodsk. The main principle of his work is to promote and help. Social coordinators in all regions of the republic provide targeted support and assistance to veterans of special military operations and the families of fallen servicemen.

One of the measures to support families is assistance based on a social contract. Since 2022, 754 families of SVO participants have received it for the purchase of living quarters, building materials, basic necessities, and firewood. More than 100 million rubles have been allocated for these purposes.

Everyone – government, business, enterprises, volunteers, residents – united in helping the fighters on the front line. Karelia sends humanitarian aid, mobile baths, construction materials, equipment and cars to the front. The republic’s enterprises produce unique products – certain types of weapons, uniforms.

Artur Parfenchikov thanked his fellow countrymen for their support in solving the problems of the special military operation:
