More than 50 veterans of the Northern Military District from the Upper Volga region underwent in-depth medical examination at the OKB

--

A participant in a special military operation, Alexander Makarov from the Zubtsovsky district, did not know about serious back problems until he underwent an in-depth medical examination.

He was examined on April 19 at the regional clinical hospital along with other veterans of the Northern Military District – the reception was organized by the branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland foundation in the Tver region.

Alexander Makarov volunteered to the front line in 2022, as part of the Wagner PMC he visited Bakhmut, Soledar, Pervomaika and other settlements. In one of the battles, he received an injury to the lumbar spine and went first to the hospital, and then home to his family. He recovered, returned to his normal life, and again began working in a road equipment repair company. However, as it turned out during the medical examination, heavy physical activity is contraindicated for him.

“The doctors gave recommendations on how to work correctly in order to injure your back less,” said Alexander Makarov. – In the near future, I need to undergo a thorough examination, already in the hospital, so that the doctors can look at the dynamics. If I had not undergone medical examination, I would not have known what was happening in my body.

Today, Alexander Makarov enjoys communicating with schoolchildren and coming to events organized by the branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland foundation in the Tver region. He is sure that the guys need basic military training and the right guidelines.

– A man must be able to stand up for everyone: for the Motherland, for the people, for justice, for the truth. I have two boys growing up – they will definitely be patriots. The eldest son is already “rooting” for Russia. When I returned home, he tried on all my equipment and medals. And one day, without my knowledge, he stole the awards to school to show the children – in the story about the children, a warm smile appears on Alexander’s stern face. “I was afraid to say it, but I wouldn’t forbid it.” He didn’t scold him, but explained to him that he always needs to get advice first.

In one go

Together with Alexander Makarov, about 30 veterans of the Northern Military District from Rzhev, Nelidovo, Vyshny Volochok, Likhoslavl and Tver underwent medical examination on this day. Such examinations at the OKB are carried out throughout April, mainly on Fridays, when there are fewer patients in the hospital. More than 50 people from different regions of the Upper Volga region have already had their health checked.

– We have about 300 people registered for medical examination, we will accept everyone in the near future. Veterans of the Northern Military District arrive on a certain day and go through all the doctors at once,” said the head doctor of the OKB, Sergei Kozlov. – Our fighters have undergone a serious test, this is not in vain for their health. The main thing is to identify problems in time and get treatment. If necessary, the therapist can schedule an appointment with a specialized specialist, or refer you for an ultrasound, computed tomography or other examination. If necessary, we can admit soldiers to the war veterans’ department, where they will undergo inpatient treatment. The main thing is that this is not a one-time action, but systematic work for the coming years.

Among the doctors that SVO veterans undergo are a therapist, a neurologist, a traumatologist, as well as a psychologist and an audiologist. Many people have hearing problems after being wounded, but some are afraid to admit it. An appointment with an audiologist will allow you to detect violations in time and take action.

From the sea to the clouds

22-year-old Dmitry Babko was not worried about his health, but he also decided to undergo medical examination: you never know.

“I think it’s better to get tested and be sure that you’re healthy.” Or cure some sores in time,” the guy noted.

Dmitry, like his father, served in the navy, and in the Northern Military District zone defended the waters of the Crimean Peninsula. His service was generally calm, the guy returned home without injuries. Today he works at the Rzhev aircraft repair plant – together with his parents.

“I’ve loved airplanes since childhood,” Dmitry admitted. “And I dream of connecting my life with this.” I plan to enter higher aviation. Our branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation promised to help.

Timofey Egorov, also a member of the SVO from Rzhev, is studying to become a gas boiler operator under the employment center program, and after that he plans to immediately get a job. Therefore, improving your health is important.

Timofey returned to his native Rzhev last summer, having received a serious wound in his arm: a shell damaged the bone and tore out soft tissue. The foundation’s social coordinator helped him register for disability. The fighter willingly went to the medical examination – how else could he get checked by so many specialists at once?

– Clinical examination is important. The fighters don’t even really know about their illnesses. Many things reveal themselves over time. Therefore, it is important to be examined on time, Timofey Egorov is sure.

Various types of help needed

As noted by the deputy head of the branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation in the Tver Region, Natalya Tsygankova, all demobilized and transferred participants of a special military operation can undergo medical examination.

“According to the project of the regional government, the Ministry of Health and the regional clinical hospital, we organized an appointment at the OKB clinic,” said Natalya Tsygankova. – We centrally deliver our defenders from the Upper Volga region – the Ministry of Transport of the Tver Region and municipal administrations are helping. Based on the lists, depending on the distance and number of fighters, we schedule routing for the next three months.

Other medical institutions in the region can also accept SVO participants, in particular, the cardiology center and the regional clinical treatment and rehabilitation center – each according to its own profile. Family members of fallen soldiers also have a “green corridor” for medical care.

Let us remind you that the fund’s branch helps SVO participants and their families not only in the “medical part”. His work includes psychological support, socialization, assistance in obtaining required benefits and payments, retraining and job placement, and much more.
