A meeting of high-ranking representatives responsible for security issues took place in St. Petersburg. According to the Smolny press service, Governor Alexander Beglov took part in the international event.
“As the President of Russia noted, it is important that despite all the difficulties, we did not turn to the path of self-isolation. On the contrary, we have expanded contacts with reliable, responsible partners in countries and regions that today act as the driving forces of the world economy,” the head of the city said, addressing the participants.
Beglov drew attention to the fact that St. Petersburg has been a point of interaction between Russia and foreign partners since its founding. Today, the policy of openness of the economy is one of the most important principles for building the city’s international relations, due to which trade turnover with the CIS states and friendly countries is growing, the governor noted.
Representatives of 106 countries arrived at the forum in St. Petersburg: secretaries of security councils, assistants and advisers to heads of state on national security issues, ministers and heads of intelligence services. The meeting is also attended by eight secretaries general and representatives of the leadership of international organizations. They discuss global and regional security issues.
