The closer summer gets, the more expensive tourist packages become – this is clearly shown by statistics. In March of this year, compared to December 2023, trips to the Black Sea coast of Russia for residents of the Upper Volga region increased in price by 53.4%, and foreign tours by 41.9%.

Such data was recently published by Tverstat in its regular study “Indices of consumer prices and tariffs for goods and services.”

In general, the cost of goods and services in our region remained virtually unchanged over the month – plus 0.24% compared to February 2024. And compared to December last year, prices increased by 1.8%, mainly due to higher prices for vegetables and fruits. For example, the cost of a kilogram of potatoes increased by 11.8%, vegetables – by 10.2%, fruits – by 5.5%. But tea, poultry meat and eggs fell in price by 3.1–13.2%.

According to the Tver branch of the Bank of Russia, in March, annual inflation in the Upper Volga region decreased from 6.31% to 6.14%. This is lower than in the country as a whole (7.72%) and in the Central Federal District (7.57%). High domestic demand influences price growth. However, government measures are curbing inflation, for example, expanding the supply of specific goods, in particular chicken eggs.
