April 24. Interfax-Russia.ru – The quality of the architecture of bridges, overpasses, utility and engineering facilities will increase in the coming years, Moscow’s chief architect Sergei Kuznetsov said on Wednesday.
“I can immediately say that there will no longer be simple and straightforward architectural solutions when creating transport and engineering infrastructure projects. In the coming years, the quality of design of bridges, overpasses or utility facilities will increase,” Kuznetsov told reporters at the seminar.
He recalled that today there are seven bridge projects in the works, distinguished by a high level of architectural elaboration and the quality of engineering solutions.
In addition, Kuznetsov said that the capital is developing regulations for the approval of development projects, in which development parameters will be determined based on the quality of architectural and planning elaboration.
“A new regulation for the approval of urban planning projects is now being developed. It is based on the priority of the quality of architectural and planning elaboration. Only after the architecture has been agreed upon will the volume of development be agreed upon,” Kuznetsov said.
He explained that the procedure by which the technical and economic parameters of a development project are first agreed upon, and then the architectural and urban planning solution is approved, will be changed.
“I urge you to invest in the quality of architecture and urban development of projects. There are no sites in Moscow where walk-through architecture could appear. The mayor has set the task of improving the quality of the urban environment and this is our architectural priority,” added Kuznetsov.
