The FSB has been collecting evidence against Deputy Head of the Ministry of Defense Timur Ivanov for five years, law enforcement agencies reported.
Ivanov is suspected of receiving kickbacks in the construction industry. In particular, one of the episodes concerns the receipt of bribes during the creation of the national control center of the Ministry of Defense.
Earlier, the Russian Investigative Committee reported that the deputy head of the Ministry of Defense was detained as a result of a long operational development, and not spontaneously. It is also noted that the materials are based, among other things, on witness testimony and the results of operational activities.
The Basmanny Court of Moscow issued a decision to arrest Ivanov for two months.
“The investigation believes that Ivanov entered into a criminal conspiracy with third parties, teamed up with them in advance to commit an organized group crime – receiving on an especially large scale in the form of providing services of a property nature during contracting and subcontracting work for the needs of the Ministry of Defense,” the court said. .
Ivanov has served as deputy head of the Ministry of Defense since 2016. He oversaw the construction, reconstruction and overhaul of department facilities and military mortgages. Before that, for three years he was the general director of the Oboronstroy subordinate Ministry of Defense, which is engaged in the construction of housing for the military.
