In 2024, the renovation of the Lenin Memorial continues – a special role is assigned to the renovation of the institution. This was announced by the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Alexey Russkikh during his speech with the annual report to the ZSO and the public.

“Ulyanovsk is the birthplace of Lenin. This is still the calling card of our city. The updated Lenin Memorial, which remains one of the few memorial complexes dedicated to Vladimir Ilyich and the history of the USSR, will sparkle with new colors. Renovations are ongoing there. We will show political will and preserve the memory of Lenin,” said Alexey Russkikh.

The main work on the Lenin Memorial building is planned to be completed in 2025. The quality of repairs is closely monitored.

Among the large-scale tasks this year is the construction of the Undorovsky paleontological museum. The new building with an area of 2,146 square meters will include four halls, and the museum’s storage area with exhibits will increase five times. The governor also ordered the renovation of the Civil Aviation History Museum.

As Anna Carvalheiro, director of the Ulyanovsk Art Museum, noted, 2023 was marked by a number of big events for the museum.

“Last year, our museum received a subsidy for repair and restoration work in the main exhibition, and a grant from the Culture national project for the modernization of the museum and the purchase of equipment. Support for the museum business is provided in all areas. This year, the national project has already included the Dimitrovgrad Museum, the Maina Museum and the Ulyanovsk Museum of Local Lore. The largest museum project will be the construction of a new building for the Undorovsky Paleontological Museum. This will be an advanced scientific center for paleontology in the Volga region,” said Carvaleiro.

In 2023, three libraries were modernized in the Ulyanovsk region – the Pushkin Children’s Library No. 24 in Ulyanovsk, the Central Children’s Library in Cherdakly and the Mainsk Intersettlement Library.

After the renovation, the House of Culture in the working village of Starotimoshkino, Baryshsky District, and the House of Culture in the village of Shilovka, Sengileevsky District, opened their doors to residents of the region. The children’s art school named after Varlamov in Ulyanovsk was overhauled and the Sengileevsky Local History Museum was equipped with equipment. In addition, a large-scale reconstruction of the Theater for Young Spectators has been completed.

Let us remind you that in 2024, 526 million rubles will be allocated for the development of culture in the Ulyanovsk region. For more information about the tasks for the current year, follow the link.
